I like to mark the changing of the seasons at Graystone, and offer different seasonal workshops. Workshops will be added through out the year, so please check back to see what’s new.
Natural Dyeing and Slow-stitch Pouch
I’m so excited to be offering this in person workshop at The Old Store Studio in Everchreech. They are wonderfully warm and friendly people with a lovely creative space. And their cakes are amazing!

This is a fabulous chance to create a pretty pouch and work with your hands in a mindful way. You will use ne-maki shibori, a binding technique and natural dyes to decorate your fabric. You will then embellish your naturally dyed fabric with slow-stitch, before transforming your beautiful fabric into a pretty little pouch.
This project will run over 3 sessions. Session 1 will include a brief introduction to natural dyeing and the shibori technique. You will have the chance to choose a natural dye to colour your fabric. Then, working in a mindful way, you will bind and naturally dye your own unique pattern.
You will embroider your naturally dyed fabric panel using slow-stitch. Slow-stitch is sometimes referred to as stitch meditation or mindful stitch and evidence shows it helps improve wellbeing.
Finally, I will guide you step-by-step through the construction process to make your own pretty, little pouch.
I will be running this lovely little project over 3 evenings in October. It’s not yet showing on The Old Store Studio’s website, so if you want more information please click on the button
I am currently finalising dates for an interactive online version.
