I’m really excited to be able to offer the 4-Seasons table runner as a long-term sew-along project. Run over 12 months – for 1 hour a month – new designs will be sent out for each new season. Inspired by the flowers we see throughout the year and Sashiko. Sashiko is a type of embroidery that uses a running stitch and originates from Japan. Sashiko was traditional winter work in Japan’s northern farming communities. They used undyed thread on a dark indigo dyed fabric to produce striking patterns.

Choose brights or cool blues
This embroidered table runner has a contemporary feel: using a range of shades to reflect the riot of colours and flowers we see throughout the year. I will also be offering a more traditional blue colourway. So you can use indigo and blue threads stitched on to cream hemp cotton fabric. Find more details on the kits on the Sashiko Workshop page.
Launching in October
The first workshop will launch in October, when the last of the Morning Glory – with its blue trumpet-shaped flowers fading and the the first Autumn Crocuses appear. Hardy Cyclamen follow, with shades from white through to shocking pink and burgundy, which can flower through to March depending on the variety.
If you look carefully from above at the Cyclamen flower, the petals suggest a wheel spinning. As you start to hand stitch in December you will see Christmas Roses (Helibore) and yellow Winter Aconite in bloom.

I’ve really enjoyed putting this series of workshops together, taking my inspiration from so many beautiful flowers and Sashiko embroidery. Whatever your level in stitching, you will be able to sew-along and create your own beautiful, original work using the flower templates and your own creativity.
